Cermet II Saw Blades – Cutting Speed
These test were run on Saw Blades tipped with Cermet II Saw Tips and Carbide Tipped Saw Blades for Comparison. Refer to our Tool Tipping Material Index for more information on the differences between these two Types of Cutting Tool Materials.
Tested:
1. Cermet II 20-tooth blade- Buy Cermet II Saw Blade
2. VA 20-tooth blade with standard carbide saw tips.
3. BD 18-tooth blade
4. IR 24-tooth blade
5. OL 36-tooth blade

Conditions: Free fall cutting through medium density particle board.
10 blades tested from each group. Time averaged for five cuts each.

Time of Cut Data - Measuring how fast a saw blade dulls out
This was done with a mechanically controlled constant push on the chop saw. We ran different saw blades with different tooth counts in different materials. The test was run until some of the saw blades dulled out.

At the end of the test it took saw blade M 17x as long to make a cut as it did to make its first cut.
Saw blade M took 8 times as long while the Cermet II blades showed considerably less wear.

Here blade F dulled out to where it took 10 times as long to make a cut. After the same number of cuts, the cermet II saw blades were considerably sharper and cut much faster than the other blades.
