Overhang laminate bits leave a 1/8 or 1/16 inch bit of laminate extending past the face of the part. This enables you to apply face laminate or edge band under the top surface, reducing accidental peeling and improving appearance.

Generally the edge will then be cleaned up with a flush trim or bevel trim bit for a perfect edge.
