Stile & Rail Router Bits

Stile and Rail Example

Stile and rail router bits are used to create raised panel door frames as well as window frames. One bit cuts the decorative edge that will be seen on both the vertical (stile) and horizontal (rail) pieces while the other is used to form a reverse cut (known as a cope) on the ends of the rails. The result is a profile that is unbroken on all four sides as well as a very strong joint.
