The long carbide cross piece on the one inch size broke off on one end. The entire carbide piece did not come away from the steel main body, rather, the carbide itself split in two internally so that one part remained on the bit and one part was shed.

I've had my eye on the Bormax3 forstner bits for quite some time and finally decided to get the 5 piece set to test out. I couldn't be happier with their performance. The produce clean, accurate holes. Yes, they are more expensive, but the quality is quite obvious.
