This  ribbon alloy  is 1.00 Wide x .010 Thick . 50 % trimet This BAg-24 brazing filter metal is low-melting, free-flowing, cadmium-free. In this sandwiched material there is a layer of copper between two layers of braze alloy. This is also commonly called trimetal or plymetal.   Typically this is in a 1:2:1 ratio.   Sandwich material is always a ribbon. The silver solder we use is an alloy which means it is a combination of metals each of which adds something unique to the mixture so that the combination works much better than any of the individual metals. This silver solder is the combination of silver, copper and nickel that provides the strengths well as Nickel which improves the flow of the alloy.

In order to obtain a good braze joint with a thickness of 0.003” to 0.005” and with good fillets the following sizes are generally a good place to start.

This alloy is made in accordance with and exceeds all specifications of:

  • The American Welding Society specification AWS 5.8
  • SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers)
  • ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials )
  • SAE-ASTM Unified Numbering System for Metals and Alloys.
  • United States government in Federal Regulation CFR 1910.1200.
  • NIS (National Institute of Standards)

The price of silver changes daily. Usually the changes are small and these prices will be good. If the price of silver changes by too much we reserve the right to change prices.

There can be hazards in using braze alloy. Do not allow the fumes to be inhaled or to come into contact with an operator or other person. For complete information please request an MSDS sheet.
